You can't solve a problem like breast cancer just by throwing money at it.

That being the case, we may as well throw the money elsewhere. In 1995, Canada, a relatively non-military country, spent just over one billion dollars on 'personnel carriers' for the army.

The cost of Canadian involvement ("peace keeping") in the Balkans is well over the three-quarter billion mark.

Some years ago (under the Trudeau regime) Canada spent five billion dollars on jet fighter aircraft. For an unspecified additional amount, some of these aircraft were able to fly in the Persian Gulf War of 1991. They performed a "support role."
