Liz, Nov. 1992 Purchase a print of this image
My aim in portraiture is to look right into my subject's eyes.

I want the resulting sheet of paper with the picture on it to give the viewer the feeling of being in the presence of the person. Part of it for me is to stop time; to make it larger than life.

The thrill comes when I can look at the sheet of paper and see a person looking back out at me. Liz is doing more: she is letting me look right in.
